The use of air guns is banned in the country

The government has banned the use or carrying of airguns until further notice to protect the country’s biodiversity, birds and wildlife.

A notification to this effect was issued by the Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change on Tuesday (December 14) by order of the President.

The notification further said that the use or carrying of airguns has been banned till further orders as per the powers given under Section 49 of the Wildlife (Conservation and Security) Act, 2012 to ensure the conservation of the country’s biodiversity, birds and wildlife.

Provided that the National Shooting Federation’s registered shooting clubs and the people living in the forest adjoining areas will be excluded from the scope due to their safety, daily needs and social norms.
