President of India Ramnath Kobind has arrived in Bangladesh. He arrived in Dhaka on Wednesday morning on a three-day visit.

Earlier, the news of Ramnath Kobind’s departure for Dhaka was tweeted from the official Twitter account of the President of India.

The tweet said, “President Ramnath Kobind Mujib has left for Dhaka to take part in a special celebration to mark the centenary and the 50th anniversary of Bangladesh’s independence.” This is the first state visit by a president since the start of the Kovid epidemic.

Ramnath Kobind, the Indian First Lady and their daughter, along with a number of senior officials, including India’s Education Minister and two MPs, are scheduled to visit Dhaka, officials said.

Members of the Bangladesh Army, Navy and Air Force presented the Guard of Honor to the President of India as part of the reception at the airport. From there he was taken on a motorcade to the National Martyrs’ Memorial at Savar on the outskirts of the capital.

The President of India will lay a wreath at the National Martyrs’ Memorial in Savar in memory of the martyrs of the nine-month long 1971 War of Independence of Bangladesh. There he will plant a sapling and sign the visitors’ book.

Later, the President of India will visit the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Memorial Museum in Dhanmondi to pay homage to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the architect father of Bangladesh. On the second day of the visit, the President of India will join the National Parade Ground on 16 December as the ‘Distinguished Guest’ on the occasion of the Golden Jubilee of Bangladesh Victory Day.

In the afternoon, Ramnath Kobind will take part in a program titled ‘Great Victory Hero’ to pay homage to the Father of the Nation of Bangladesh and celebrate the joy of victory at the South Plaza of Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban.
